You enjoy good food but don’t want to have to go far? No problem! We have some great places in the area, all of them walking distance or a short trip away.
Café Ansari
Georgian? What kind of food is that? Firstly: tasty, finely prepared main courses or starters to share oriental-style, e.g. with aubergine or feta, but different from what you know. Secondly: never mind the food, this place is simply enchanting. Long tables, big round lamps hanging from the ceiling, lots of space and nevertheless a cosy atmosphere. We’ve said enough. Just go and check it out.
Café Ansari, Praterstraße 15, 1020 Wien
Balthasar Kaffee Bar
For those of you who love coffee shops to start or break up your day, this is the place to go. Good for reading the morning papers, or a chat with a friend or colleague. Coffeeshops being a rarity outside the main shopping destinations, this is a real treasure right at the heart of the second district between U Netroyplatz and U Praterstraße.
Balthasar, Praterstraße 38, 1020 Wien
Ullmann’s Zuckerbäckerei
Enter your perfect combination of confectionery, coffeehaus and “KuK” flair, transported directly into the 21st century. Industrial design meets charming playfulness and great taste – not just cakes and home-made chocolate, but also breakfast and excellent coffee. Welcome indulgence!
Ullmann’s, Walcherstraße 11a, 1020 Wien
Mochi
A jewel which has been fully booked since the day it opened its doors in 2012. Experts guess that this is so because of three factors: excellent and fresh Japanese food, unusual architecture (plus outside seating under plane trees) and the staff: dedicated cooks and superfriendly waiters/waitresses, unfazed by the constant stream of hungry people looking for a free table. Hard to believe, so you better give it a try.
Mochi, Praterstraße 15, 1020 Wien
Stewart
Soups, currys and international home cooking – Stewart (Stew-Art) means what the name suggest: the art of cooking soup. Please note that Stewart is more of a sandwich bar than a restaurant, open only for lunch during weekdays. In other words: the perfect place for shopping breaks.
Stewart, Praterstraße 11, 1020 Wien
Vivus Salettl
Truly an institution, located right behind the fairground rides of “Würstelprater”. You could probably jump from the rollercoaster right onto the terrace if you tried (and wouldn’t scare the other guests). Right on Prater Hauptallee, Vivus Salettl offers well-prepared Viennese food complete with the inevitably grumpy Viennese waiter.
